England is inhabited by Celtic tribe called the Britons. They originated near the Rhine river. 55 B.C. Julius Caesar invades Britian with Roman troops. Romans live in England for about 300 years. In 1066 William the conquerer invades Britian and English culture has a French influence. The normans defeat the Anglo-Saxons in 1066 at the battle of Hastings. William becomes the King of England. William employes Feudalism in his empire. A caste system is formed with high class people and serfs. Serfs are the lowest of peasants. Any boy not a serf is trained to be a knight at a young age, with a code of conduct to follow called chivalry. Chivalry paves the way for romantic literature. Wars were waged in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries against the followers of Muhammed. Jerusalem was the prize. These wars were known as the Crusades.

Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.
