They originated near the Rhine river. 55 B.C. Julius Caesar invades Britian with Roman troops. Romans live in England for about 300 years. In 1066 William the conquerer invades Britian and English culture has a French influence. The normans defeat the Anglo-Saxons in 1066 at the battle of Hastings. William becomes the King of England. William employes Feudalism in his empire. A caste system is formed with high class people and serfs. Serfs are the lowest of peasants. Any boy not a serf is trained to be a knight at a young age, with a code of conduct to follow called chivalry. Chivalry paves the way for romantic literature. Wars were waged in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries against the followers of Muhammed. Jerusalem was the prize. These wars were known as the Crusades.

"In war, events of importance are the result of trivial cause."

-Julius Caesar

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.
And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.
How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.
